In the 1960s in Japan, we met valuable demands from scientists for development of simple, useful and economical equipments to advance biological and biochemical researches. ATTO Corporation was established as a biochemical equipments manufacturer in 1964 to meet the above demands. In these fifty years, we have made an effort to develop and improve our ATTO brand products by a large investment in research, development, cooperating with leading scientists in biochemical and biological fields.
Since our establishment, we have continued to develop, manufacture, and provide many biological and analytical products, such as peristaltic pumps, chromatograph equipments and electrophoresis apparatus, for Japanese research communities.
Over the last decade we have also developed and provided bioluminescent devices and analyzers as a useful research tool especially in gene expression studies.
Name of ATTO Corporation comes from "atto", an incredibly small unit equal to 1 x 10-18, or one-quintillionth. Modern scientists and technologist now hope to investigate in detail and deeply into exploratory research on the "atto" scale. This is the field ATTO is ready to enter.
In recent years, the Japanese government has begun to promote joint research between universities and enterprises. However, ATTO has already been engaged in collaboration with universities/research institutes, and has already achieved several fruitful results to date. One of the results of collaboration won an award from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2001.
In 2012, Dr. Yamanaka, Professor of Kyoto University has got the Nobel Prize for the iPS cell research field. ATTO is developing a system to support the research.
We hope to keep providing efficient and cost effective tools for all researchers in the world.
